Instron® Testmaster™ 2 Automated Specimen Handling Systems enables a new dimension of testing productivity. Available as either a complete turnkey solutions or fitted to existing Instron testing instruments, either option is tailored to your testing operations and throughput requirements. The unique modular design of the Testmaster 2 Automation Specimen Handling Systems provide the broad control and handling capability needed to fulfill a wide range of applications. In addition to increased testing throughput, automated specimen handling systems offer an array of benefits, such as reduced labor costs, improved accuracy and consistency, elimination of operator error, improved operator safety, and more. Standardized systems are available for the following application areas described below.

Automated Carousel Feeding System The Instron® Carousel Automated Feeding System utilizes an innovative technique for automatically conveying test specimens from a carousel storage rack to the test area and then on to a specimen removal station. Thin films and other flexible or ‘flimsy’ materials, ranging from delicate individual fibers to tough geotextiles are seamlessly transferred through the system. The entire system consists of a simple linear specimen feeding system, a rotating carousel specimen storage rack, a universal test frame and a low noise industrial vacuum which provides an effective means of removing tested specimens. Carousel storage racks may hold up to 50 specimens but may vary depending on sample size and geometry. Multiple carousels may be supplied with each system, allowing operators to pre-load carousels while the system is running. This allows operators to quickly install a loaded carousel into the system after the preceding carousel is empty, supporting high throughput and efficiency within the lab. The Automated Carousel Feeding System is a cost effective and reliable solution for automating the specimen handling of some of the most challenging sample types in tension tests, tear tests, as well as t-peel tests. Automated Specimen Handling for Metals The Testmaster 2 Automated Specimen Handling System for Metals is ideal for ASTM E8, ISO 10002, and other metals tensile standards. Additionally, the system can be configured to meetJIS,KS, and DIN requirements. The standard systems include accommodations for specimen storage, specimen and batch identification, dimensional measurements, specimen handling in grips, specimen disposal, and full testing and analysis. |
Automated Specimen Handling for Plastics and Composites The Testmaster 2 Automated Specimen Handling Systems for Plastics are ideal for rigid and semi-rigid plastics, as well as for films. Common test standards include ASTM D638, ASTM D882 and ISO 527 tensile testing, and ASTM D790 and ISO 178 flexural testing of rigid and semi-rigid plastics. The standard systems include accommodations for specimen storage, specimen and batch identification, dimensional measurements, specimen handling in grips, specimen disposal, and full testing and analysis. |
